An EcoGeo heat pump retrofit in Portnoo
A residential EcoForest EcoGeo heat pump retrofit using an air collector for a home in Portnoo, Co. Donegal.
The project
We installed an EcoForest EcoGeo heat pump and a 500 litre hot water tank in this Portnoo home.
An AU12 air collector was used instead of a ground collector, so there was no need to dig trenches or drill in the garden. The heat pump sits inside the building, protected from the weather, while only the air unit remains outside.
What we installed
Heat pump
An EcoForest EcoGeo heat pump was fitted to provide the home's heating and hot water.
Hot water
A 500 litre hot water tank gives the household a generous supply of stored hot water.
Air collector
An AU12 air collector replaced the need for a ground collector, avoiding groundworks on the property.
Why it works
Keeping the heat pump indoors protects it from the Donegal weather, while the air collector makes the retrofit simpler to install.
